Premise

What happens when Eggs come alive, complete with emotions and actions?
What happens when human survival is dependent on the humble Egg?
Does the EGG have an identity crisis? What if the most important truth is hidden from them…that their real destiny is to be chickens, that they are born to hens?

The Proposal

E3 is the sci-fi, mystery, action 3-D CG feature film story of how the captive community of Eggs discovers about their past and is impelled to decide about their future.

Story Synopsis

Based sometime in the future E3 is a story about an entire community of eggs that is given a life. Humans have built a huge state-of-the-art egg castle which hosts a community of approximately 50,000 living eggs. The castle is built atop a 2000-feet tower by the pharma company that conceived this idea, headed by an evil President. Here, each egg is injected with special medicines (proteins) which evolve in the culture to form cures for various human diseases and ailments. On maturity, the living eggs are harvested, and in effect, un-plugged from life. Each generation of eggs lives for exactly 888 days.

The Castle is a Utopian place with parks, art galleries, museums of past generations and movie theatres (which show movies made by humans). Life is happy for the eggs, which have been trained to understand that they exist for mankind’s survival. They are made to feel important and are always bombarded with messages (direct and indirect) on how they are brought into this world and that their lives are meant only for humans, right from ‘birth’. The community is largely creative, and spiritual as well; the eggs spend most of their time in activities like movies, painting, music, pottery and fashion.

Restrictions, surveillance keeps them safe. A terrible fear that’s inbuilt in them is the fear of ‘cracking’. So they are encouraged to play only indoor games that do not require any physical activity. The eggs do not know what ‘sports’ is and consider it a crime to do any physical activity. They are conditioned to believe that any activity that puts them at risk of cracking is a complete ‘no-no’ and is sinful.

The eggs are made to believe that they are manufactured by humans. The fact that they are actually hatched by chickens / hens has been hidden from them for the last seven generations. Only the very first generation got to know about this, and all the eggs of that generation were prematurely terminated since this knowledge had dangerous consequences. However, aware of impending danger to their generation, an art maestro of this pioneering generation called Da Whity, had left hidden clues in his paintings. These images show a mysterious abstract figure. Humans have not been able to eliminate all the clues the first generation tried to leave behind.

Since a carefree, stress-free life is critical for the youlk to develop the way humans want it to, and with the increasing popularity and thus, the numbers of the eggs, the humans couldn’t keep up the surveillance/ moderation through CC TVs. The solution to this problem was a 24-hour reality show. The whole world could now follow the lives of an alternate life-form, vicariously in 24×7 graphic and candid-camera detail. The eggs do not know that their every movement is being checked by millions all over the world. The Show is an instant hit, with humans often empathizing with the Eggs!

Inevitably, Eggy, our curious and ‘different’ protagonist pokes around and this leads to the discovery of the hidden truth. A total misfit in this docile society, he is sporty and asks questions. Insidious ‘accidents’, out-of-bounds areas, a strange sense of unease – all these alert him to an unseen presence, a powerful hidden hand. He discovers that they are being watched.

With the help of a very colorful character, a Spiritual Godman called Baba Yoke, Eg, Egg and Eggy put together a band of intrepid followers who help them infiltrate the museum, hoodwink the omni-present cameras and make away with manuscripts and clues. They then study these and arrive at the awful truth.

Should they escape the ignominy of being made into live commodities? Should they continue to live a blinkered existence, letting themselves get exploited, their spirit insidiously battered? Would it not be true bliss to achieve Egg Nirvana…self-actualization into a chicken?

The conflict in the minds of the key characters and the resultant action forms the rest of the story, and the thrilling climax, which is willy-nilly captured by candid cameras.
