Most of the time designers can’t get themselves to write. After all we are designers and we ‘design’, so we have a little difficulty in expressing ourselves ‘literally’.
I also seem to face the same problem. I would rather make a small movie out of what i feel about design or about global warning than write about it, but who has the time for all this! Actually there is something quite common amongst creative people- the disease is called ‘hyper excitement for a new idea which is short lived’ (HYFANI). But hey, don’t get me wrong. It is the excitement which is short lived, not the idea.
The most difficult thing is to write about oneself! It’s seriously killing. I would rather write about my neighbour who I really doubt is a serial-killer, than talk about how good I am as a designer/ creative thinker/ film maker/ animation director/ photographer. Which reminds me, what aspect of my life should I write about?
Do I sound confused? Actually any creative person aspires to be anything that is to do with discovering life. There is a secret scientist in every artist. Why do you think Leornado Da Vinci - the scientist, painter & visionary- was so multi-talented?
But in today’s world, being multi-talented amounts to being not focused. That reminds me - this introduction is not at all focused, so I am finally going to talk about myself now.
In 1997 I started out as a self-employed designer playing around with software like corel draw and photoshop. I only had one aim in life- to start my own company. For the next 6-7 years I dreamed of starting my own company and the day I managed to finish graduation, I rushed home and asked my dad to buy an additional PC so I could start off from home. At 23, I had a handful of clients and by 26 I was running Web Animation Studio with a decent team of web designers. For last 5 years I have done everything to survive and keep my clients/ employees and everyone happy as a creative entrepreneur.
At 28 I decided that I will venture into animation story-telling. With some 6 years of experience as being a part of TASI (The Animation Society of India) as a Managing Committee member I really wanted to get into the animation industry.
As of now I am taking up design projects/ animation projects that excite me and hey, I am not suffering from HYFANI.
Update:
Don’t miss the Panoramic shots section under digital photography.
